The severity of the situation has created a sort of panic that has paralyzed the consumer. Rather than deal with any aspect of the problem, we wait for someone to yell: “it’s OK to come out now!” If you are waiting for a “bottom” to the overall crisis, and for all the news to turn positive, don’t hold your breath. Retired Canadians Head to Alabama
An increasing number of retired Canadians are now finding that the Gulf Coast of Mexico can be spelled with a capital “A” – as in Alabama. Canada, like the United States, has it’s share of “baby boomers” that welcome the change in temperature and the 32 miles of white sand beaches that accommodate over 6 million annual visitors. With the current exchange rate, the buying power of the Canadian dollar combined with very low real estate taxes, coastal properties are very attractive to these northern neighbors.
And once they arrive, they find a Gulf coast that is both progressive and environmentally friendly – with thousands of acres preserved for bird and animal wildlife as well as miles of beaches.
