Greatest Real Estate Agent In The World?

What’s with the

Greatest

Real Estate

Agent

In The World

contest?

It is a simple contest to see who ranks highest on Google for the search term Greatest Real Estate Agent In The World on May 1st, 2008.

What makes the “Greatest Real Estate Agent In The World”?

Well in my opinion there is no such thing as “The Greatest Real Estate Agent In The World”!  Agents work with buyers and sellers of real estate, this is what they do for a living and there are literally hundreds of things that agents do in the conduct of their business.  The actions to be undertaken by an agent vary as to the particular situation of a client or customer whether they be buyer or seller.  An agent must be diligent in looking after the interests of those clients and customers.  With all transactions being unique and requiring diligence, how can one person be compared to another, they are just as unique as the properties they sell.

The Contest

This contest is not about actually being the greatest real estate agent in the world (we do all agree that would be quite presumptuous), but about a very important part of the business of many modern real estate agents.

What would that be you ask?

It would be utilizing technology to conduct ones business, attract buyers, and promote properties of sellers!

How many agents do you know that have websites?  Yes, thats right, 99% would probably be a pretty accurate number!  But of that number, how many of them actually know how to promote the properties of their sellers where they are easily found on the internet?  That would necessitate a good indexing by search engines, however, many agent sites are unknown to search engines as well as to buyers and sellers.

So does an agents efforts to make his website easily found make him amongst the greatest real estate agents in the world?  Why no, not necessarily, an agent with a great web presence can still be less than ideal.  But on the flip side of the equation, can an agent that makes no efforts to attract buyers online or promote sellers properties online be considered amongst the greatest?  I think not!

Enter Team Eric

Team Eric consists of a group of friends that has absorbed the Internet culture by Social Networking in the Web 2.0 environment.  While they all have family, friends, and personal acquaintances as most agents for a sphere of influence and business, they have all collectively  reached out to a bigger sphere – the world – in efforts to best find buyers and sellers of properties in the communities they serve.

Team Eric members spend long hours building their networks and relationships to bring traffic and business through their websites.  If you are a buyer, you easily find relevant listings you are in search of.  If you are a seller, your listing gets seen by large numbers of visitors brought from the networking traffic.

We believe this to be important to being a Great Real Estate Agent and believe that without these efforts it would be difficult to be considered as one of the greatest.

If an agent could be out listening to live music and entertainment at the world famous Flora Bama or enjoying Alabama coastal life by boating and fishing along the beach of the Gulf of Mexico between Ono Island, Orange Beach, and Gulf Shores, but instead is at the desk blogging about real estate, is he a serious and dedicated agent?  I would say so!

News from the National Association of REALTORS© tells us how important this action is and that the majority of buyers these days find property from the internet.  Is’nt it important to you as a seller to have an agent with a strong web presence, a strong web sphere, and the ability to get your property seen?  I can answer this for you even if you don’t know – YES!

So, is your agent spending large amounts of time at the computer sitting around just reading unrelated news on politics and having random thoughts of travel to other places or is he learning and writing blogs and making sure the photography for listings have multiple shots and presents the property in a good light?  I think all you have to do is check the search engines to find out!

Do you want your agent to be amongst the best by working for rankings, traffic and a larger world sphere of buyers?  Tell Team Eric what you think by posting a comment here – The Greatest Real Estate Agent In The World contest!

Marc Rasmussen is undoubtedly the Greatest Real Estate Agent in the Sarasota Association of REALTORS and the Sarasota MLS

  1. What makes the greatest real estate agent the greatest? Tough call. I believe that the greatest real estate agent takes his time and listens to the buyer. The greatest real estate agent has a good personality, great local support, is easy to talk to and has an instinct of what the buyer will be most likely to buy.
The greatest real estate agent will make things happen, even when times are a little bit tough.
Who the greatest is, time will tell.
It gets easier in time and the more connections you make and the more buyers will refer their friends.
Who is the greatest real estate agent?
Ask the buyer, they will decide. 🙂

  3. Excellent points across the board on this post. Many agents are quick to say that they generate a lot of their business from the internet – but in reality, they don’t generate anything. If they have a web presence, its usually their Brokerage affiliation or office website – and those leads in turn get passed out to the various members on the rosters in that office. Being a real estate professional in todays market goes beyond the “throw it on the MLS” and wait type of marketing program that many real estate agents are offering. This contest attempts to push the limits of knowledge regarding acquiring an internet presence.

  4. It would be impossible to ever figure out who is the “greatest real estate agent in the world”. For starters the greatest agent for one buyer or seller could not meet the needs of another client. There are to many variables of what different clients need.

  5. Ken brought up a good point. Its impossible to be everything to everyone. I think you’re ahead of the game if you make more people happy than not.

  6. @ your point, the greateset real estate agent in the world is the REALTOR who connects with their client in the most effective and efficient way. That would make it TOTALLY in the eyes of the beholder IMO.

  9. I’m going to go out on a limb. I believe I am the greatest real estate agent in the world. I sell more homes than anyone in the world. However, I am not talking about “The” world, but “my” world! My world is very small, it’s my house. Hey, I can dream can’t I?

  15. The best real estate agent would be a combination of an aggressive ambitious personality with a tragic past fighting to conquer his breath.

  16. A very subjective measure, to be sure. If anyone deserves it, however, it’s probably Marc Rasmussen given all that he’s had to put up with from the Sarasota MLS. I just hope they don’t force him to remove all references to the MLS from his website like my MLS has done!
